Things I Never Thought I’d Say- “I Am So Sick Of Digging In The Dirt.”: Spring ‘24 One Room Challenge Week 6

Welcome back!

So I guess I am more of an every other week updater?? Boy am I feeling the pressure at this point! I will have to be done 4 days early as my family and I will be going on a trip for my sons Odyssey of The Mind world finals!!! That means, I have ELEVEN DAYS! That’s nausea inducing.

ANYWAY- Here’s what I’ve been up to:

I finally finished laying all of my patio pavers! I started off by measuring the distance I wanted from my house in a few different spots to be sure it was squared to the house. I then tied a strand of yarn on that line between 2 stakes. This helped me be sure all of my lines were straight!

These pavers were 90 lbs each! I loaded in my car, unloaded at home, carried and leveled all 30 myself!

I had to dig up and loosen the dirt so I could level these suckers.

I spread my creeping thyme seeds over raked dirt and then stepped over them to push them into the ground. They don’t like to be planted deep so keep them moist and near the surface!

More tilling and more seed spreading.

After a week they really started popping up!

Then to fill my lifted garden beds. The plan is to staple chicken wire on the bottom, then add a layer of branches and sticks, then cardboard, then leaf mulch, and finally the dirt! Here’s to hoping there’s enough support that the bottoms don’t fall through!

I spray painted an old rattan table I had that was looking super rough! CHERRY RED! It will be going on my top deck.

I also spray painted this old cart I found in my late Grandpas basement to match a cute wire tray, napkin and caddy set that I thrifted! Also going on my top deck!
